Ground Source Heat Pumps

Ground source heat pumps run off pipes buried in the garden that extract heat from the ground. Radiators, underfloor heating systems and water can all be heated by them.  ETGB offers a full ground source heat pump installation and maintenance service.

How does a ground source heat pump work?

The system comprises a ground heat exchange loop, a heat distribution system plus the heat pump itself.  Circulating a mixture of water and antifreeze around a loop of buried pipe, heat from the ground is then absorbed into the fluid which then passes through the exchange loop into the heat pump.

An all year-round and almost constant underground temperature means that the ground source heat pump can be used whatever the weather.

The length of the ground loop depends on the size of your home and the amount of heat required. Longer loops draw more heat from the ground but require more space to be buried in. Vertical boreholes can be drilled if space is limited.

Benefits:

Ground source heat pumps installation costs will depend on the site and the amount of heat output required. Contact ETGB today and we’ll talk you through everything that you need to know about a ground source heat pump for your home.
